Our Mission

Who we are

We have worked tirelessly to enhance the employment rights and protections that each of you rightfully deserves. In our tenure, the Levler Moran team has worked together to build important relationships, pass crucial legislation, and advocate for jobs and improved working conditions for our members.

As part of our mission to strengthen our union's political influence, the Levler Moran Team has worked alongside elected officials in local and state government to pass meaningful legislation that empowers and uplifts the dedicated public servants in our county and our state. In doing so, we have also elevated AME's standing and respect among many union officials, community leaders, and elected officials throughout the state of New York.

One of our most significant achievements has been advocating for over 2,500 new positions and promotions, facilitating substantial career advancement and workforce expansion. Additionally, we successfully fought against the proposed 15% healthcare contribution rate, saving members thousands annually while maintaining affordable, high-quality health coverage, and used our crucial relationships in Albany to deliver important first steps in Tier 6 reform.

Our team has also introduced new benefits, including a comprehensive short-term and long-term disability plan and the first-ever $50,000 life insurance policy for members. We secured $93 million in healthcare savings, resulting in reduced co-pays and a 3-year extension on EMHP for long-term stability. We established a new Variable Supplement Fund benefit that projects to pay out thousands of dollars annually to retirees. We extended dependent ancillary benefit coverage from age 19 to 26 and ensured there were no layoffs, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, while opposing the privatization of AME jobs. We successfully obtained the Administration's commitment to conduct a study ensuring our salaries are competitive with those of surrounding governments, which is currently underway.

Furthermore, we have enhanced members' work-life balance by securing an additional holiday, bringing the total to 13 and we enhanced retirement consulting, civil service consulting, mortgage support, and tax reimbursement.

Join us in our fight to keep moving AME forward!

WHERE ARE WE GOING?

Successful leadership takes planning, courage of convictions, and the ability to share the vision of a better day with everyone. We have built a foundation on which we can all succeed above what we have already achieved together. That foundation requires the strong relationships we have been building and the partnerships we have forged within the labor community, the public, and government. While we are proud of the growth we have seen as a united union, we must build on these successes to conquer new horizons. Our team is focused on delivering for you and your family, and there's more to come:

► Expand Hiring and Career Growth: We are dedicated to ensuring hiring opportunities across all units and expanding promotion avenues for every member of our union.More Money in Your Pocket: Through advocating for the implementation of salary study recommendations and pushing for fair raises, we are committed to putting more money into your pockets.
► Continued Benefits Growth: With a focus on securing increased Benefit Fund funding, we strive to enhance the benefits available to our members.
► Fix FLSA: Building on our efforts to exempt numerous positions from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which positively impacted hundreds of members, we will persist in securing exemptions for all members.
► Better Healthcare: Our goal is to maintain comprehensive healthcare coverage for all members and to expand our involvement in health-related decision-making processes.
► Long-Term Financial Stability: By establishing reserves for future benefits and adhering to fiscal discipline, we aim to ensure the sustainability of our union while preserving our voice and influence.
► Effective Training Programs: We are dedicated to enhancing on-the-job training opportunities and leadership development initiatives to support the professional growth of our members.
► Safe Workplaces: Advocating for legislative reforms to achieve safer staffing levels, we prioritize the creation of secure and conducive work environments for all members.
► Union Member Inclusion: Through the establishment of engagement committees, we endeavor to provide more opportunities for members to take on leadership and advocacy roles within the union.

The choice in this election could not be any clearer- it's a choice between taking this union backwards to the dark old days or to keep AME moving forward towards a brighter future. We believe you agree.
